Automation¶
To improve efficiency, ensure consistency, reduce human error, and support scalable CIM model management, the Tool provides four complementary automation mechanisms:
- Recording & Replaying supports both audit and automation use cases. It records modeling activities performed in the workspace, providing a traceable audit trail for security, compliance, and recovery purposes. The recorded actions can also be replayed, allowing users to repeat complex modeling procedures without manually executing each step again. This ensures repeatability and reduces human error.
- Batch Processing enables structured execution of multi-step workflows such as model loading, validation, transformation, reporting, and export. It automates repetitive and large-scale tasks, supports variables and conditional logic, and provides logging for traceability. This framework is particularly suitable for enterprise-scale processing and overnight jobs.
- CSV-Based Scripting allows users to modify models through structured CSV instructions instead of writing C++ or Python code. It is ideal for large-scale patches, profile migration, scenario generation, data cleanup, and structured transformations. By combining spreadsheet-based editing with a domain-specific interpreter, it enables fast, controlled, and repeatable model modifications.
- Python Scripting provides a fully customizable automation mechanism independent of specific built-in Tool functions. Users can develop custom scripts to perform advanced model manipulations — such as creating models from multiple data sources, performing network reduction, or merging external networks. This approach enables rapid development of specialized, model-driven applications while leveraging the Tool’s underlying APIs. All Python scripts are executed and managed within the Tool’s UI environment.
Together, these mechanisms provide a flexible and powerful automation environment for both interactive and large-scale modeling workflows.
