Adding a Modeling Entity¶
Adding a modeling entity is one of the most common use cases for model maintenance. The Tool enables users to perform this type of modeling task graphically by selecting the type of the modeling entity and dropping it in the existing or new detailed Substation Diagram or by copying or cloning from an existing modeling entity. Additionally, the Tool maintains the following modeling logics:
- The Tool auto-creates the underlying CIM objects corresponding to the selected type of the modeling entity and set the connectivity association and containership between the related objects.
- The modeling entities must be added sequentially to make business sense. For example, a new ConnectivityNode may need to be added before new Equipment is added. The added Equipment cannot be dangling. It must be connected to a ConnectivityNode.
- The number of steps involved in adding a modeling entity shall be minimized. For example, adding new Equipment and connecting to ConnectivityNodes are combined as a single modeling activity: dropping new Equipment on or between the buses which represent the connected ConnectivityNodes.
