Diagram Displays¶
The Tool provides a variety of diagram displays to visualize a power grid and its operation. More specifically, in response to users’ requests, the tool auto-generate one-line diagrams to display network’s physical/electrical configurations and operating conditions, and provides various interactive graphical features to facilitate the model exploration. The following diagram displays are currently supported:
- Region Diagram – displaying the regions and the tie connections among regions
- Neighborhood Diagram (Schematic and Geo) – displaying the grid connections at Substation, including the selected substation and its connections to neighboring substations through auto-layout or based on geographic locations
- Substation Diagram – displaying equipment physical/electrical connections with a substation
- Equipment Diagram – displaying the selected equipment within a substation or between two substations
- Boundary Diagram – displaying the boundary stations and the tie-lines for a selected GeographicalRegion/SubGeographicalRegion.
- Feeder Diagram – displaying a distribution feeder, including distribution equipments and their connections .
- XNode Diagram – displaying the XNode connections. XNode is a pseudo middle point of a tie line. It is a convention for modeling regional boundary in Europe.
- Dynamic Model Diagram – displaying the control block diagram of a dynamic model
- Standard Schematic Diagram – displaying the diagrams exported from other tools/systems and specified by the IEC 61970-453 (Schematics Layout Profile) standard
- Standard Geographical Diagram – displaying the geographical locations of power system resources based on the IEC 61968-Part 13
- Geo-Schematic Diagram – a hybrid diagram that combines both geographical and schematic features.
- Multi-Station Diagram – display an interconnected portion of a network across multiple Substations.
- Diagram Summary – displaying all of objects of a certain type of the modeling entity, from which various type of graphical displays can be invoked.
In addition to visualization of network connection, the Tool is also designed to support visualization of power system operating conditions. Analysis results, such as those from topology analysis and power flow study, can be visualized on the top of the generated network diagram. Various visualization techniques, such as animations, are applied to help users better understand the system operating conditions and alert the users for any contingencies, such as over-limit conditions. For more information, please check Visualization of Enhanced Analytical Results.
