Importing from a CIM-Compliant Database¶
CIM-compliant database is a core component of many CIM-based information infrastructures. For example, a CIM-compliant database normally serves as a centralized shared data repository in a single-entry modeling project. In a CIM-based integration project, a CIM-compliant database is often used as an interface to external applications. In order to support these CIM-based projects, the Tool provides support necessary for integration with a CIM-compliant database. More specifically, the following functionalities are supported:
- Users can generate the database schema directly from the XSD profile files
- The Tool supports virtually any RDBMS with ODBC connection support, including MS SQL Server, Oracle, and MySQL.
- The Tool is capable of connecting to a CIM-compliant database and synchronizing with the connected database by
- Initializing the database using a model file loaded into the Tool
- Retrieving the whole model from the CIM-compliant database and loading it into the Tool for various purposes including browsing, editing, visualization, or validation, etc
- Once the Tool is synchronized with the CIM-compliant database, any model modifications in the Tool will be immediately propagated into the connected CIM-compliant database. The propagated model modifications are stored as traceable incremental changes in different tables.
Database support is part of the Model Management function. Users must set up and initializing the database before loading a version of model from the database.
