Customization & Personalization¶
Realizing that it is infeasible to offer a “one-fit-all” solution to meet heterogeneous and sometimes conflicting business requirements, the Tool provides a variety of mechanisms to enables users to customize the tool to fit their special needs. More specifically, the Tool provides customization options at three levels:
- Tool customization: enabling users to customize the Tool by changing the configurations at both server and client sides. The customization is system-wide, applying to any loaded models.
- Model-specific personalization: enabling users to customize a specific loaded model through definition of a data source. The customization, though only applying to a specific model, is shared by all of the client users in a shared environment.
- User preference setting: enabling users to personalize the visualization displays by changing the settings at the client side. This customization only applied to the client machine.
The first two customization options can be achieved by changing the configuration file of the Tool, while the 3rd customization option is typically performed through UI and the modified settings will be stored at local storage of the client PC/laptop.
