Diagram Saving & Exporting¶
The Tool enables users to save any types of auto-generated diagrams, schematic or geographical, adjusted or expanded, as CIM-complaint diagrams. The saved diagrams can be fully restored, visually and functionally. They can also be exported as standard or extended CIM/XML files to be shared by other CIM-compliant applications. Furthermore, the diagram rendering algorithm is adaptive. If the underlying model has changed, the diagram rendering engine is capable of detecting this model change and making the corresponding changes in the rendered diagram. This allows diagrams and models to be maintained in separate environments.
This feature enables users to build some custom graphical displays for reuse and sharing with other applications. The following is a reality-based use case:
- Users import a CIM-based network model into the Tool.
- They use the diagram auto-generation function to create some diagrams. Some of the auto-generated diagrams are expanded and adjusted.
- They save the adjusted diagrams and export the diagrams as a CIM/XML file separate from the network model.
- The exported diagram CIM/XML file is imported to other tools and applications for sharing.
- A new version of network model is now available. Users import this new version of network model into the Tool and merge the exported diagram into it.
- Users call some of the saved diagrams. If inconsistencies are detected, the diagram rendering algorithm will rectify the original saved diagram to adapt to the model change. Users adjust some of the changed diagrams and save them.
In summary,
- Any auto-generated diagrams, schematic or geographical can be saved and exported, conforming to IEC 61970-453.
- The adjusted geographical diagram can be exported as CIM/XML conforming to CGMES GL profile.
- The Auto-save function enables users to run a batch process to auto-generate a diagram for each Substation and then save each generated diagram automatically.
- The adaptive diagram rendering function of the Tool enables the diagrams to be maintained separately from the underlying network models.
